Day 1 Upon arrival pick up at Chiang Mai airport, we transfer to the Fang area. We check in at the Phumanee home hotel, which is run by the Chaikor family of the Lahu hilltribe, whose father was the chief of tribe. Open your eyes to the culture of the Lahu hilltribe and the amazing story of the Chaikor family. Here, you will also get to see exhibits of the traditional Lahu costumes and tools.

Day 2 Today, we embark on an amazing experience – 2 days 1 night homestay in a Lahu Hilltribe Village on Doi Pu Muen. Doi Pu Muen is a mountain and highland which is 1,306 meters above sea level with cooling temperatures at the top. After breakfast, we set off on a trek up Doi Pu Muen. On the way, the guide would extract and collect some plants and greens – these would make up part of the delicious dinner later, fresh from nature! If you’re lucky, you would also be able to grab and eat some fresh fruits right along the trek such as a strawberry-looking fruit, banana, and tamarind. You will also manouvre through a beautiful field with tall grass and flowers. Smell the faint aroma of lemongrass and blow the dandelion flowers. Be mesmerized by the breathtaking scenery as you reach the higher levels of the mountain. Upon arriving in the village, you can explore the village and interact with the warm and friendly Lahu people. Relax and enjoy life in the village and immerse into the Lahu lifestyle. We will go to the tea plantation and have fun learning how to pick tea leaves like a local, as well as roast and dry the tea leaves. In the evening, we can try our hand at fishing in the village pond to add food to the dinner table! At night, enjoy a delicious dinner with fresh food cooked in traditional ways by the Lahu hilltribe locals. After dinner, hop and dance around in a joyous atmosphere as we learn the Lahu dance from the friendly locals. Return to the house and have fun as you engage in hearty talks or take a stroll with your torchlight, while enjoying the cooling temperatures on Doi Pu Muen.

Day 3 Awaken to the beautiful scenery of the village. After breakfast, we will explore the village and further immerse ourselves into the lifestyle in the Lahu village. Engage in the day-to-day activities like a Lahu local – you could be picking coffee beans, or try taking up the farming tools and work alongside with the farmers in the fields. Your activities could vary according to the season. At noon time, we head back to the house for lunch. With our stomachs satisfied and after some rest in the house, we bid goodbye to our friendly Lahu friends and transfer to Trekkers Lodge in Chiang Mai. In the evening, we will visit the Night Bazaar to grab some souvenirs for friends and family. Do not miss the local food along this famous night street full of hustle and bustle.

Day 4 In the morning, we embark on a half-day cycling culture trip. We start our trip along the Ping River, passing the local village on the way. Our first stop is Wat Koh Klang, a temple with a long history and is highly important to its community. We then visit the McKean hospital, the leprosy rehabilitation center in charge of the Church of Christ in Thailand. Admirably, there people have been caring and helping each other for more than a hundred years. Visit the buildings around the hospital and enjoy purchasing many lovely souvenirs at the handicraft center in the area. Next, we head to the natural vegetable garden and orchard, symbols of the trend of sustainable agriculture. These lands were reclaimed without using chemical fertilizer, and the farmers prevent pests using a natural process. See and learn how the farmers grow various plants such as cabbage, chilli, eggplant, pea, shallot and garlic. We continue to cycle around the area to see the various kinds of fruits such as banana, mango, corn, etc. For a greater culture immersion experience, get into the action and join the activities such as cultivating, watering, and fishing. We then proceed to see and get information of Wiang Kum Kam at Wiang Kum Kam Informational Centre. Many ancient relics were found around the area such as pottery and Buddha images as well. Visit Wiang Kum Kam, the ancient underground empire of Lanna. We start at Wat Chang Kum (also known as Wat Khan Tom), the first archeological site which was found in 1984. Keep on traveling to Wat E-Kang, Wat Nhan Chang, Wat Pu Beai, Wat Pra Thart Khaow, and finally, Wat Chedi Leuim (also known as Wat Ku Kam Luang.) Appreciate the enormous facet pagoda which has been restored for many times before becoming the mixed architecture it is now. We then cycle back to Trekkers Lodge. In the afternoon, we will go to Wat Suthep, a famous temple in Chiang Mai. Marvel at the magnificent temple, and feel the calm and serenity that the place exudes. In the temple, we will learn and do the traditional way of praying of the Thai locals around the Pagoda. You can also pray and ask about your future with the lots and golden elephant in the temple, add oil to the Buddha which represents the day of the week you are born in, and get blessings from the monk. In the process, you will gain interesting insights into the Thai traditional customs and beliefs by learning why and how to do the various things properly, and experience true culture immersion. From the temple, there is a magnificent view overlooking Chiang Mai city – don’t forget to pose and take a picture here! Ring the bells at the sides of the temple, and listen to the soothing sounds. At night, indulge in a traditional Kantoke dinner. Feast on the delicious spread and experience the warm hospitaility of the thais in this northern tradition of welcoming visitors. Enjoy the traditional performances of Kantoke dinner as you tuck in to your meal.
