Highlights
This programme promotes the outdoor learning environment and hence better enhances whatever has been learnt at the classroom back in school. Through hands-on experience like the inter-tidal walk, students can see and feel the variety of marine species. Students are also engaged through interactive games that will spur them to have deeper understanding of the underlying environmental issues and implications.
Contrary to the belief that our reefs have been permanently devastated, they still support rich marine life. The reefs in Singapore harbour more than 200 species of hard corals from 55 genera, which given the size of the reefs and conditions present here, compare favourably with coral species richness in the more extensive reefs of the region. Singapore reefs sustain good diversity of other marine organisms too. Hence, there are many learning opportunities out there for students.
