Eco Tourism & Sustainable Tourism

Code of Conduct for ETS Travellers

Learn about your destination
Make an effort to learn about your destination from books, magazines and websites so that you know what to expect at your destination. Pay attention and follow the advice of your guide. Be aware of what is rude and offensive. Enrich your experience by taking time to talk to the locals and indigenous residents.
Lighten Your Impact
Bring a cloth shopping bag. Abide by the trail etiquette and practice “Leave No Trace Behind” environmental principles. Don’t shortcut trails or contribute to erosion. Carry a reusable water bottle and bring your own coffee cup. Don't throw your cigarettes or litter on the ground. Consider using biodegradable soap and shampoo while travelling. Treat natural areas with care.
Support the Community You Are Visiting
Buy locally-made souvenirs and gifts rather than mass-produced items. Sample unique local fruits and vegetables at the farmer’s markets. Patronise local businesses. Buy local and fair trade goods and services. Tell people what you appreciate about your destination. Learn what issues are affecting the community today.
Offset Your Carbon Emissions
While ECO Travel Services tries to reduce your carbon emission in your trip and implementing policies to offset your carbon footprint, we encourage you to make an effort to reduce your environmental impact. Say no to unnecessary consumerism.

Conserve Resources
Reduce the amount of “stuff” you consume. Save the water by turning off the tap when you’re brushing your teeth. Take short showers instead of baths. Carry your own water bottle. Consider the fan instead of air conditioner. Try other alternatives of travel instead of being in the car all the time to add on to your experience.
Be Respectful
Honour local traditions, etiquettes and customs. Understand the cultural differences relating to time and service. Be polite to your guide and driver as well as to your fellow travellers. Smoke cigarettes away from others. Be aware of the volume of your voice. Appreciate the similarities and the differences among all cultures and individuals.
Consider Giving Back
If you were touched in some way by the people or the environment that you travelled, consider about giving back and helping us to develop these communities and protect the environment. Join us in our efforts to advocate for the environment and regional sustainable development.
Our Final Note
It is not so difficult to be a responsible traveller. It is a great choice to make as you create a unique experience for yourself and protect what’s good for others to enjoy as well. Hope you will have an amazing experience with us and hope to see you for many more journeys to come!
